Lymphatic Drainage- 60min
Service Description
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) was developed in 1930's by Dr.Emil Vodder and his wife Estrid Vodder, who were treating patients with symptoms of cold and flue and other immune-related conditions. During their work, they observed that massaging the skin in a specific way, with rhythmic movements, can help reduce swelling and inflammation, by improving the lymph flow and speeding up the recovery. Over the years they developed a more refined technique, that applies a soft touch, circular and pumping movements to facilitate lymphatic circulation. This days, MLD Vodder's method is a technique used by many medics and therapists. It have a powerful calming effect on the parasympathetic nervous system. The gentle, rhythmic, pumping massage movements follow the direction of lymph flow and produce rapid results. It involves moving the skin over the underlying tissues using repetitive, circular and spiral-shaped movements with alternating increasing and decreasing pressure. This creates a pumping effect, which encourages the flow of lymph fluid and drains excess fluid from connective tissue.
